eSIM on Samsung Galaxy: Supported Models and Setup (2026)

Which Galaxy phones support eSIM, the exact setup steps, and the carrier-variant gotcha that catches Samsung owners out.

Samsung has supported eSIM across its flagship range since the Galaxy S20, but with one wrinkle: some carrier-branded variants ship with it disabled. Here is how to know for sure.

Short answer: Galaxy S20 and newer, Z Fold and Z Flip (all generations) and Note 20 support eSIM. Some US carrier-locked variants and certain regional models disable it — the *#06# EID test is the only reliable check.

Which Galaxy models support eSIM?

  • Galaxy S series: S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, S25 and their Plus/Ultra variants
  • Galaxy Z series: Z Fold and Z Flip, every generation
  • Galaxy Note: Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra
  • Galaxy A series: limited — a few models (like the A54/A55 in some regions) support it, most do not

The carrier-variant gotcha

Unlike Apple, Samsung's eSIM support varies by region and carrier. Two phones with the same model number can differ. Do not trust a spec sheet — test your actual device:

  • Dial *#06#. If an EID appears alongside the IMEI, you have eSIM.
  • Or go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager and look for Add eSIM.

If there is no EID, the hardware or firmware has it disabled and no plan will install.

How to install an eSIM on a Galaxy

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi.
  2. Settings → Connections → SIM managerAdd eSIM.
  3. Tap Scan QR code from service provider and scan your code (or choose to enter the details manually).
  4. Confirm and name the line "Travel".
  5. On arrival: in SIM manager, set the eSIM as Mobile data, and enable Roaming for that line.

Wording shifts slightly between One UI versions, but the path is always SIM manager → Add eSIM.

Dual SIM on Galaxy

Galaxy phones handle a physical SIM plus eSIM simultaneously. Set your home SIM for calls with roaming off, and your travel eSIM as mobile data with roaming on — the combination explained in our dual SIM guide.

The bottom line

If your Galaxy is an S20 or newer and shows an EID, it takes a travel eSIM in two minutes. Browse plans for 190+ destinations and install before you fly.

Samsung rule: trust *#06#, not the spec sheet. Carrier variants are the difference.
