Bangkok has two airports. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) handles most long-haul and full-service flights; Don Mueang (DMK) is the hub for low-cost carriers, including many domestic and regional routes. Either way, the first thing you need after touchdown is data: to book a Grab or Bolt, message your hotel and check the route into the city. With an airova eSIM there is no SIM counter, no queue and no passport registration at arrivals — the eSIM is already on your phone.
From Suvarnabhumi, the Airport Rail Link runs into the city and connects with the BTS Skytrain and the MRT. Don Mueang is linked to the city by the SRT Red Line, buses and taxis. Inside Bangkok, the BTS and MRT are the quickest way past the traffic, and Google Maps shows the lines, stations and walking routes in real time. For door-to-door trips, Grab and Bolt need mobile data to book, track the driver and pay — exactly what the eSIM is for.
The airova Thailand eSIM runs on True–dtac, the merged network of TrueMove H and dtac. Most plans connect on 5G where it is available and fall back to 4G elsewhere. In practice that means dependable coverage in the busy parts of the city — Sukhumvit, Silom and Sathorn, Siam, the riverside and the Old Town around Khao San and the Grand Palace. Signal can weaken deep inside large malls, in some underground passages and in older buildings with thick walls.
Ayutthaya, the floating markets such as Damnoen Saduak and Amphawa, and other popular trips out of Bangkok are covered by the same national network, so maps and messaging keep working on the way. Rural stretches can drop to 4G or have weaker signal, so save tickets and offline maps before you set off.
A city break of five to seven days with maps, Grab, messaging and photo sharing usually fits in 3–5 GB. Longer stays, video calls home, lots of Reels and stories or remote work from a café call for 10 GB or more. Run out mid-trip? Top up the same eSIM from your account — no new QR code.
